A number of opportunities are available for students to engage in the farm broadcasting community.

Student membership is available for students studying agriculture communications.

Students are invited to join NAFB members at the annual NAFB Convention at the Westin Crown Center in Kansas City. Student registration is complimentary and NAFB helps facilitate hotel rooms at the Sheraton Crown Center for the first 40 students that register. A special convention agenda for students is featured each year.

At convention, Farm Credit sponsors a Social Media Corps for students. Participants are chosen through a competitive application process.

Each year, the NAFB Foundation offers several $5,000 college scholarships: the Glenn Kummerow Memorial Scholarship, the George Logan Scholarship, and the Orion Samuelson Scholarship (sponsored by the CME Group) and the NAFB Foundation Grow Smart Scholarship sponsored by BASF. These scholarships are recognized at the National NAFB Convention, and the recipients also receive an expense-paid trip to attend the convention as part of the award. Applicants must be a college junior, senior, or graduate student prior to the application deadline and must be enrolled in or transferring to an agricultural communications curriculum with concentration and/or application in broadcast media.

Students are also encouraged to contact their local farm broadcaster about internship opportunities that may be available. Each spring, the NAFB Foundation coordinates a summer internship grant program, sponsored by DuPont Pioneer, for up to 10 stations and networks.
