The Voice of Agriculture
Farm broadcasting has its origins more than 100 years ago when grain traders took to the airwaves to report on commodity prices. Today's farm broadcasters still serve a critical role in American agriculture, delivering local ag news, timely market updates, local weather and more. While the medium has evolved over the decades, farmers and ranchers still rely on ag broadcasting for trusted information that is relevant to them in the moment.
Today, farm broadcasters can be heard on more than 1,500 media outlets, including over-the-air radio and TV stations and networks, podcasts, streaming services and more, reaching millions of farmers, ranchers and other rural audiences every day.
Even with the abundance of media sources and other outlets for information, independent research proves that the trust in the farm broadcaster still leads listeners to rank ag radio as their #1 choice for daily ag news and information.

A Rich History of Farm Broadcasting
The NAFB was founded in 1944 as the National Association of Radio Farm Directors (NARFD). Over the years, the organization has adapted to the changing landscape of the industry. When farm broadcasting expanded to television, the association altered its name to the National Association of Television and Radio Farm Directors (NATRFD). Then, in 1964, to streamline the name of the organization, the members changed the name to the National Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB). To reflect an inclusiveness of the industry, in 2005 the name was tweaked to the National Association of Farm Broadcasting
Today, NAFB is dedicated to serving the interests of the agricultural community and creating value for its broadcast member stations and networks. NAFB is an established liaison between farm broadcast stations and networks and the agri-marketing community of companies and agencies.
