Fall 2026 Editorial Internship

Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid) 
Position: Paid, Temporary Internship 
Timing: Fall 2026 (Flexible start and end dates, approximately September–December)

Agri-Pulse Communications is seeking a motivated editorial intern who is passionate about agriculture, food, energy and rural policy and eager to build reporting experience in a fast-paced newsroom.

Agri-Pulse is widely regarded as one of the nation's leading sources of farm, food and rural policy news, serving policymakers, industry leaders and stakeholders across the agriculture and food sectors. As an intern, you'll work alongside our editorial team to report on timely policy developments, produce multimedia content and contribute to our daily and weekly news products.

This internship offers hands-on experience covering Congress, federal agencies and the agricultural industry while developing the skills needed for a career in journalism.

What you'll do:

  • Report and write original stories for Agri-Pulse newsletters and Agri-Pulse.com.
  • Write short newsletter briefs covering policy announcements, research reports, agency actions and other breaking news.
  • Produce Farm Hands on the Potomac and Farm Hands West, our weekly people-on-the-move column highlighting industry hires, promotions and career transitions. You'll receive training before taking ownership of the feature.
  • Assist with research, fact-checking and source development for larger reporting projects.
  • Cover events, webinars, press conferences and congressional hearings as opportunities arise.
  • Contribute to Agri-Pulse's social media and digital storytelling efforts.
  • Participate in the production of our weekly Newsmakers television program, with opportunities to appear on camera by recording brief news segments tied to current policy issues and data visualizations.
  • Collaborate with editors and reporters on special projects and new editorial initiatives.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in journalism, communications, English, agricultural communications, political science or a related field (relevant professional experience may substitute).
  • Strong writing, reporting and editing skills.
  • Interest in agriculture, food, energy or rural
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small editorial team.
  • Familiarity with AP style.
  • Experience with video, audio or other multimedia storytelling is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and content management systems is helpful.
