
KMA Radio (Shenandoah, IA) is seeking an experienced and passionate Farm Director to lead the station’s agriculture programming and coverage. This is an exciting opportunity to grow a respected farm department at one of the most historic agricultural radio stations in the Midwest. The ideal candidate will have previous farm broadcasting experience, strong connections to the agricultural community, and the ability to create engaging, informative content for farmers and rural audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Host a daily agriculture-focused radio program featuring market updates, interviews, and
farm news. - Lead and coordinate the farm department’s coverage and content planning with other
station team members. - Report from agriculture trade shows, farm events, and industry meetings.
- Provide extensive coverage of county fairs and the state fair.
- Organize and host local events for farmers and producers.
- Work with the sales team to build relationships with agricultural clients and develop
creative, sellable content opportunities. - Conduct interviews with producers, ag leaders, and industry experts.
- Produce on-air and digital agriculture content as needed.
- Provide occasional fill-in support in other areas of station programming.
Qualifications
- Previous farm broadcasting experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of agriculture, commodity markets, and rural issues.
- Strong on-air communication and interviewing skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
- Self-motivated and organized with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Comfortable representing the station at community and agricultural events.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for coverage.
