PLATTE CITY, Mo. (October 3, 2024) – The National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) Foundation recently awarded 2024 college scholarships, totaling $77,500, to 10 students studying agricultural communications. The students will attend and be recognized for their achievements at a special NAFB Foundation Celebration Luncheon on Nov. 13, 2024, during the NAFB Convention in Kansas City.
Since its inception in 1977, the foundation has funded more than $900,000 in agriculture student scholarships and internship grants.
"Now more than ever, agriculture needs to invest in future leaders who will shape the industry," says Meghan Grebner, NAFB Foundation president and broadcast supervisor at Brownfield Ag News. "Together, all of the donations and contributions help strengthen the farm broadcasting profession and build better communicators for all of American agriculture."
Receiving the 2024 scholarships are:

• Samantha Bennett, Fremont, MI, Oklahoma State University (George Logan Scholarship)
• Allie Herring, Franklin, TX, Texas Tech University (Jack Farmakis Scholarship)
• Ava Splear, Waterman, IL, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (WGN Orion Samuelson Scholarship)
• Savannah Reinke, Malta Bend, MO, St. Cloud State University(Grow Smart Scholarship presented by BASF)
• Lizzie Schafer, Owaneco, IL, Kansas State University (Robert & Patricia A. Schmidt Foundation Scholarship)
• Natalie Victorine, Dixon, CA, California Polytechnic State University (John Deere Scholarship)
• Jacob Zajkowski, Maumee, OH, Cornell University (Glenn Kummerow Memorial Scholarship)
• Lainey Kitzmann, Billings, MT, Montana State University (Orion Samuelson Scholarship sponsored by CME Group)
• Megan Clark, Grand Mound, IA, Iowa State University (Ken Root Scholarship)
The NAFB Foundation is a critical component of NAFB, working to keep the quality and viability of the farm broadcasting profession and the ag communications industry at the highest level.
