PLATTE CITY, Mo. (April 14, 2026) – The National Association of Farm Broadcasters Foundation recently awarded five internship grants to member farm broadcasting stations and networks. The foundation also provided four continuing education grants for broadcaster members to attend its Washington Watch event on April 27-29.

The internship grants, totaling $15,000, help provide students with on-the-job experience in agriculture broadcasting, from live reports covering events to a look outside the studio into the business model of a broadcast entity. The $2,000 in continuing education grants help defray travel expenses for member farm broadcasters to attend Washington Watch for the first time.

"The NAFB Foundation is proud to invest in the next and current generations of farm broadcasters by providing financial support for hands-on, practical experience provided by the grants," says Meghan Grebner, NAFB Foundation president and broadcast supervisor for Brownfield Ag News. "Together, we are strengthening farm broadcasting and building better communicators for all of American agriculture."

Internship Grants
Each station or network awarded a grant selects a deserving agricultural communications student for the internship experience. The students will also attend and be recognized for their achievements at a special NAFB Foundation Celebration Luncheon during NAFB’s Convention in November in Kansas City.

Receiving the 2026 internship grants are:

  • Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network
  • Rural Radio Network
  • Brownfield Ag News
  • Red River Farm Network
  • Radio Oklahoma Ag Network

Since its inception in 1977, the foundation has funded more than $340,000 in internship grants. This investment is made possible with booster club contributions, funds raised at the foundation’s annual auction and support from corporate donors, including J.L. Farmakis and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

Scholarship Program
The NAFB Foundation is also seeking applications for its 2026 scholarship program, which provides support for the next generation of farm broadcasters and communicators. Every year, the foundation provides scholarships to eligible college students studying agriculture communications. The scholarships are funded with generous sponsorships from J.L. Farmakis, BASF, the Schmidt Foundation, John Deere, Brownfield Ag News and CME Group. To apply, students can visit nafb.com/foundation/scholarships.
