NAFB News Service Broadcaster (Contract/Part-Time)

The National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) is hiring a contract/part-time role for its News Service. This journalist/broadcasting professional will report to and assist the NAFB News Service Editor in the daily operations of the service in addition to being responsibile for generating unique enterprise audio and video content for exclusive use by member NAFB stations and networks.   

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor daily ag/farm news for issues and stories of value to the News Service
  • Contribute finished edited stories and audio content in coordination with workload managed by the News Service Editor 
  • Help encourage and facilitate contributions and the timely production and posting of stories from member broadcasters to the News Service
  • Assist in producing National Ag News report
  • Assist in interviewing and/or story preparation for contract clients
  • Assist in sending the News Service Notes Daily email

Experience in farm broadcasting and audio/video production is a must. Travel to NAFB events, at the direction of the News Editor, will also be expected. This is a contract or part-time role. No employee benefits are offered. Applicant must be free of conflicts of interest as determined by NAFB and the selection committee.

The NAFB News Service is utilized by the association's member farm broadcasters for daily ag news content. In addition to news partners, farm broadcasters also provide content for the News Service for use by members all across the country. The NAFB News Service staff, led by Editor Chad Smith, provides additional farm news and agricultural policy stories, including a one-of-a-kind, broadcast-ready daily features on news affecting rural America from the nation’s capital—National Ag News.
