Jennifer Warren started as senior director of policy communications for Caprock Strategies in December 2024, and is looking forward to her new role of consulting clients.
Warren most recently was with the National Sorghum Producers and is no stranger to agriculture. She grew up in New Mexico on a diversified agricultural operation.
“We farmed wheat, sorghum and hay, and we also had a commercial cow-calf operation,” Warren said. “I was very involved in 4-H and FFA growing up, where I showed lambs and steers. I also competed on judging teams, including livestock judging.”
Warren’s livestock judging career would take her to college. She attended Clarendon College and Texas Tech University, where she studied agricultural communications and photography. During her college education, she interned with the National Sorghum Producers.
“That internship introduced me to the world of ag policy and working for a trade association,” Warren said. “I became interested in the impacts decisions in Washington, D.C, had on farmers and ranchers back at home, so I participated in a congressional internship the semester after I graduated through Texas Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. I was the intern for the House Committee on Agriculture.”
Upon completing that internship, Warren returned to National Sorghum Producers to begin a full-time career. She spent 15 years with the organization before joining the Caprock Strategies team.
“Caprock Strategies was founded by former USDA Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services Brandon Lipps and his wife, Hannah Lipps,” Warren said. “Hannah was my first boss at National Sorghum Producers, and she has definitely been a mentor to me as well as a close personal friend. They saw a need for a dedicated role that helped consult clients in the communication space.”
She crafts messaging and shapes engagement that positively influences public policy outcomes and enhances client reputations. Her job duties also include handling the communications needs of Caprock Strategies.
Warren is looking forward to the future and the opportunities it brings.
“We work with an array of clients focused on food and nutrition, agriculture, and rural issues, and I look forward to helping them achieve their goals,” Warren said. “With a lot of recent change inside the Beltway, Caprock Strategies will continue to provide expert resources and serve our clients through these new developments.”
