Washington Watch 2026 Recap

Washington Watch attendees

NAFB members hit the ground running in Washington, D.C., this April for an unforgettable Washington Watch 2026. With 24 broadcasters on site and more than 100 members joining throughout the event, NAFB’s presence was strong, visible, and unmistakably influential in the nation’s capital.

The week kicked off with energy as both the Board and all‑member meetings delivered key updates and set the tone for a packed agenda.

The Issues Forum, our own D.C. version of Trade Talk, buzzed with activity as more than 20 companies and organizations stepped up to share insights, story leads, and the messages shaping agriculture right now. Broadcasters wasted no time diving into conversations that will fuel months of coverage back home.

A standout moment came at USDA, where members literally pulled up a chair with top leaders from USDA and the Department of the Interior. The thoughtful, sharp questions from our broadcasters showed exactly why NAFB remains a trusted voice for farmers and ranchers nationwide.

The visit to the National Association of Broadcasters added even more spark, with discussions on everything from AI’s growing role in broadcasting to the ripple effects of the War in Iran on U.S. agriculture. It was a powerful reminder of how interconnected and fast‑moving our industry has become.

After a marathon day of interviews, the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association rolled out the welcome mat on their rooftop. Great beef, great views, and great company made it a night to remember. And with the nation celebrating its 250th, the guided evening monument tour brought history to life in a way only Washington can.

The three‑day event wrapped with a dynamic morning at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, where eight Senators and Representatives shared candid insights and took questions from our broadcasters. With Farm Bill rulemaking happening just steps away, the timing couldn’t have been more electric. We bookended the session with the chairmen of the Ag Committees, exactly the voices shaping the policies our listeners care about most.

If you haven’t yet experienced Washington Watch, 2027 is your year. The NAFB Foundation offers scholarships, NAFB subsidizes rooms for Broadcast Council members, and the entire event is designed to give broadcasters unparalleled access, insight, and connection as they report back to the farmers and ranchers who rely on them. Mark your calendars for April 19-21, 2027, and watch for registration info in the months to come.
