Become the next recognizable agriculture voice on legendary 580 WIBW.
At a time when many media companies are cutting local coverage, MSC Radio Group is investing in it. We're looking for someone with a passion for broadcasting and a connection to agriculture to work alongside veteran farm broadcaster Greg Akagi and help build the next generation of Kansas farm broadcasting.
- LEGENDARY 580 WIBW
Broadcast from one of Kansas' most recognized radio stations. - 25+ STATIONS STATEWIDE
Your work can be heard across Kansas through the Kansas Ag Network. - GROW YOUR OWN VOICE
Learn alongside Greg while building your own name, sources and relationships.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Produce written and audio agriculture stories, interviews and features for radio, web and digital platforms.
• Work alongside Greg Akagi in producing and delivering daily agricultural programming on 580 WIBW and the Kansas Ag Network.
• Interview farmers, ranchers, commodity leaders, ag businesses, industry experts and other newsmakers.
• Cover farm shows, conventions, meetings, fairs, field days and agricultural events across Kansas.
• Develop original story ideas and build trusted relationships with sources throughout the Kansas agriculture community.
• Provide live and recorded reports from the field and grow into a recognizable, trusted on-air voice.
• Help expand MSC's agriculture content across broadcast and digital platforms.
NEWS? IT'S AN OPPORTUNITY - NOT A REQUIREMENT
For the right candidate with an interest in news, the position can also include local and statewide reporting for 580 WIBW and the Kansas Information Network. But agriculture is the heart of this job. We don't want a great farm broadcaster to pass on this opportunity simply because news isn't their passion.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• A genuine passion for radio, storytelling and connecting with people.
• Some form of agricultural background or connection - farm or ranch experience, ag education, FFA/4-H, ag business, agricultural communications or similar experience.
• Someone curious, personable and comfortable talking with people from the farm gate to the boardroom.
• A self-starter who wants to get out of the studio, find stories and become part of the Kansas agriculture community.
• Broadcasting experience or a related degree is welcome, but not required. We care more about potential, work ethic, personality and passion.
WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY IS DIFFERENT
• Build your career on legendary 580 WIBW in Topeka.
• Work and learn alongside veteran farm broadcaster Greg Akagi.
• Reach listeners on more than 25 stations across Kansas through the Kansas Ag Network.
• Join a growing, locally owned media company that is investing in local people and local content.
• Competitive pay based on experience plus a great benefits package.
IF AGRICULTURE IS PART OF WHO YOU ARE AND BROADCASTING IS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.
