AIC Election Profile: Harold Birch

Harold Birch, one of the founding members of FamilyFarms Group, was named Executive Vice President in 2010, after having served as COO since 2006.  In his role as Executive Vice President, Mr. Birch is a valuable organizational resource (internal for staff and external for clients) and is responsible for both international endeavors and strategic resource and development.

Mr. Birch’s prior experience uniquely prepared him for his role in FamilyFarms.  With extensive experience in accounting and audit, Mr. Birch was an integral part of developing widely accepted auditing procedures for financial institutions and small businesses.  In addition to managing and operating a family farm, Mr. Birch worked for AgriSolutions, Inc. from 1995 - 2006 as National Account Manager, and before that, Mr. Birch had his own accounting and consulting firm where he provided customers a full range of financial services.  Previously, Mr. Birch had worked for a regional CPA firm in Paris, Illinois.

Mr. Birch has extensive training experience in agricultural finance and has published several articles for various national agricultural periodicals.  Mr. Birch is a member of the National Society of Tax Professionals, the American Society of Agricultural Consultants, and the Institute of Management Accountants.  He is a Certified Tax Professional, Certified Agricultural Consultant, and a Certified Internal Accountant. 

With an Associate of Science Degree from Lake Land Community College in Mattoon, Illinois, Mr. Birch earned his B.S. in Agricultural Economics and Farm Management from the University of Illinois.  In addition, Mr. Birch has completed extensive work towards his Masters degree in Economics Ag Finance and Accounting from the University of Illinois.
