As of September, I started a board position on my local PRSA chapter. Volunteer experience includes: current 4H Chapter co-leader, former volunteer Sunday school teacher, and volunteer equine instructor for kids with disabilities.
Bio: NAFB helped kick off my professional career when I first graduated from Iowa State University. No other conference or convention I attended offered as much value as NAFB, and for this Northwest Iowa farm-raised radio fan, I stood in awe watching broadcasting legends pass me at Trade Talk. It was little surprise, therefore, when I started my career as a farm broadcaster at KICD in Spencer, Iowa. After three years of delivering farm news and live, up-to-the-second markets, I accepted the role of public relations manager at the Iowa Soybean Association. I kept farm radio close to me as I continued to work with countless broadcasters all throughout the Midwest. Now, in my current role as public relations strategist at Lessing-Flynn in Downtown Des Moines, I lead the agency's agricultural PR efforts where I continue to hold farm radio and broadcasters close in these pursuits. I strongly believe in the value of farm broadcasting as a time-tested medium for reaching farmers and agriculturalists. Just like the passion I felt for serving farmers when I stood behind the farm-booth microphone, I feel the same passion for keeping farmers the primary focus of all pursuits – individually and as an organization.
