Years of Experience: 30
Board Experience:
I have not been a board member previously. In the first half of my broadcast career (radio 1973-1989), I was an active member of NAFB, but my NAFB involvement has been long forgotten. I remember being nominated as an officer candidate, just before my broadcast job evaporated in 1989.
Bio: I have two University of Illinois radio/television degrees and spent the first half of my career in radio as an Illinois farm broadcaster. When that position ended, I worked for the American Soybean Association in Marketing, the Illinois Farm Bureau in farmer education, and Illinois Extension as a county agent. I took on a farm broadcasting role at WAND Television and later at WCIA Television (both in Illiniois). My career has been focused on helping farmers make more money and stay out of jail.
For the past 25 years, I also have written a weekly farm management newsletter and a weekly newspaper column, and I’ve provided daily radio programs to several radio stations. My television position ended August 30 when management said it was no longer in the WCIA strategic plan. I am negotiating with another radio station and another television station to provide regular programming and have already begun providing regular video features to several farm organization websites. For a farm boy, the sun never sets.
