I'm Rob Winters - farm director at WOWO-AM/FM in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I was the recipient of last year's NAFB Horizon Award. Oddly enough, I qualified for the rookie status that goes along with the award, but it basically made me one of the oldest rookies on record since I celebrated 40 years in broadcasting last year as well.
I've spent the major portion of those years in NewsTalk Radio on the air and as a PD and News Director, so taking the farm director job at the legendary WOWO in Ft Wayne was not a stretch, but the significance of the 80+ year history of farm broadcasting on WOWO was not lost on me. It has been an honor to carry on the tradition.
In the past few months WOWO was honored by the NAB as the Marconi Award winner for Medium Market Radio Station of the Year. I was also honored by the Indian Corn Growers Association and Indiana Soybean Growers with the "Beyond the Fence Award" for outstanding commitment to farm broadcasting in the state of Indiana. I would be equally honored to represent the Eastern Region of NAFB as your Vice President for 2015.
