Happy February! We are another month closer to planting season, a very important time for all of our members, viewers and listeners. The NAFB staff has been busy “planting” seeds with farmers, ranchers and agribusiness leaders in January. During National Cattlemen’s Business Association (NCBA) show the staff met with farmers and ranchers promoting all of you. They used the NAFB Planner to help farmers find a local NAFB Station and talked with agribusiness leaders about how NAFB Members and their stations can help promote their businesses! Eighty-Two percent of the ranchers we talked with at NCBA, said they listen to farm radio. Many noted that they rely on radio for news, and weather because they live in the country – and it’s easy to access. Fifty-Six percent of the ranchers listen three or more days per week.
You now have another great tool to help with your marketing. The final wave of our research has been released. We have a great story to tell our clients! Seventy-Six percent of farmers and ranchers listen to farm radio, 74 percent of farmers younger than 50 listen to farm radio, 71 percent listen three or more days per week. The more minutes per day they listen – the longer they listen each day. Farm radio is a daily habit for today’s Ag producers; it keeps them connected to the industry and updated on issues impacting their operation today and in the future. Be watching for marketing materials including web banners, info graphics, a smaller presentation package and more. There will also be a webinar on how to present this exciting research to your clients on February 18th. If you missed it, the webinar will be posted on the NAFB site. This is just another benefit of your valued membership in NAFB.
The executive committee will be meeting once a month to review association finances. The monthly calls will allow the board to continue strengthen our financial position. The association is financially strong due to the leadership of the NAFB staff, and guidance over the last several years.
This month’s marketing video with Matt Middendorp of Sales Math answers the question, How can I profit from customers who have had a positive experience with my station? Video Link If you have a topic you would like Matt to address, or any other comment or concern about your association, please send email me.
Student Committee Chair, Jesse Harding, KVRN, has a student internship survey she would like all Broadcast and Management Council members to fill out on student internship needs. If you have not taken a few minutes, please fill out the survey.
All the best,
Brian Winnekins
