After eighteen years, I left Federated Media in August of 2012 as Co-COO. Shortly after I began consulting Farm Journal Broadcasting as they embarked to build a radio portfolio. As my involvement evolved from consultant to Independent Contractor we accomplished the following objectives: 1) Enhanced AgriTalk content. 2) Through an extensive reorganization of affiliates increased our farm acreage coverage and increased farm ratings. We finished 2013 strong exceeding our revenue and profit goals. In 2014 we will far exceed revenue and profit goals as well. Our success inspired the creation of a new talk show launched March 10th, Market Rally with Chip Flory and the purchase of a short form feature, American Countryside with Andrew McCrea. On November 3rd Farm Journal Radio will launch myFarmRadio.com, a Pandora like digital mobile platform for farmers. FJM now has a viable radio business to add to their portfolio of media platforms. Effective January 2, 2014 I assumed the role of Vice President, General Manager, Radio, Farm Journal Media.
Previous to Farm Journal, I started with WOWO in Fort Wayne, Indiana as sales manager in 1994. I was promoted to Director of Sales for the Fort Wayne cluster in '98, promoted to GM in 2001 and finally Federated Media Co-COO. While GM for over a decade core accomplishments included:
• Since 2002 grew revenue market share from under 50% to nearly 70%.
• Formation of transactional sales department (2010)
• Formation of Hybrid/Enterprise sales department (2010)
• Annually, lowest turnover in company i.e., 2011 lost three sellers on staff of 30+
• Lead company in “corporate” Feddy Award winners (16)
• Awarded ownership shares in Federated Interactive, LLC. (2009)
• Awarded ownership shares in Federated On Display, LLC. (2009)
• Fully vested in company “Executive Merit” plan
• Served twice on NAFB board, ’98 & ’99 and ‘11 & ‘12
• 2012 recipient of “Dave Hays” award for dedication to employee development
