Years Experience: 25
Board Experience:
I served as the NAFB Eastern Region Vice President in 2021 and 2022. Other NAFB service includes committee work on Washington Watch, the news service, the mentor program, and recent strategic planning efforts. I am a founding member of the Kansas State University Ag Communications and Journalism program advisory board. Other volunteer experience includes church groups and Sunday school leadership as well as coaching and other duties with my kids’ youth sports activities.
We saw first-hand this year how respected and renowned our industry is through the electric vehicle discussions. As we approach our 80th convention, we can celebrate decades of relevancy and impact, providing information and entertainment to our listeners and viewers. Over the years, agriculture has changed, and our industry certainly has too. But our potential for relevancy and impact are as great as ever. There is so much noise in our world now, from social media to podcasters to AI. But the demand for the trusted resource is still there, and it always will be. It is our duty, dare I say, our calling, to be the trusted resource, not just for agriculture but for all who care for rural life. My farm broadcasting career goes back to 1991, and my first NAFB membership was in 1994. My broadcast experience has taken me from Kansas to Missouri, to Indiana and finally to Illinois. I have great passion for promoting agriculture through broadcasting, and I have great empathy and enthusiasm for those in the next generation that have that same passion. I also believe there are people in our current generations who can join and thrive in our industry if given the opportunity. I have a strong desire to serve in a leadership role in this industry that has been so good to me for so many years. I would certainly appreciate your vote in November.
