Airing on the Side of Agriculture

In recent months, Mark Magnuson has gotten out of his comfort zone and made the switch from sports to farm broadcasting with the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network.

Rob Winters, with WOWO Radio, won the 2022 National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Radio Award for Medium Market Station of the Year as a recognition for excellence in radio broadcasting.

At the end of December 2022, Vic McGill retired from KATZ Media after more than 20 years with the company.

It started as a summer internship turned station job turned marketing specialist role. In turn, Whitney Pittman has extensive experience with the Red River Farm Network. In October 2022, she was hired full-time on the network’s farm broadcasting team.

Mace Thornton is the new chief operating officer and partner at marketing, communications, and research firm Stratovation Group.

After making the transition to the Learfield News in Ag division, working as the digital content creator/coordinator, Anna Hastert got to see a different side of the farm broadcasting world.

NAFB Allied Industry Council Member Christine Tew credits 4-H as her gateway to agriculture, both as an industry and a future profession. Now the marketing and communications manager for Valent USA, Tew is excited to continue supporting 4-H through her induction as a new trustee on the board of directors for the Missouri 4-H Foundation Board.

Upon attending her first NAFB Conference in 2015, Corryn La Rue cemented her career as an agriculture reporter, now doing just that for the Ag Information Network. La Rue graduated from Utah State University with two Bachelors of Science degrees in agricultural communications and journalism with a broadcast emphasis.

NAFB Allied Industry Member Lori Hallowell recently received the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) 2022 Professional Development Award of Excellence for public relations.

In 2022, the NAFB Foundation awarded multiple $7,500 college scholarships and one $10,000 scholarship. Each recipient received an expense-paid trip to attend NAFB Convention as part of the award.
