MOLINO HONORED BY LOUISIANA FARM BUREAU FEDERATION – Don Molino, senior farm broadcaster for the Voice of Louisiana Agriculture Radio Network, received the Michael Danna/Reginal Wallace Ag Communicator of the Year Award from the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation in June 2024.

Molino grew up in agriculture in northeast Texas, picking cotton by hand.  He started his broadcasting career in high school as a disc jockey at a daytime station in Paris, Texas. Then, he moved to WFAA radio in Dallas while attending East Texas State University.

He was drafted to the Army in 1969 and spent two years in the Panama Canal Zone as a broadcast specialist. After leaving the army, he returned to WFAA radio for a year and moved to KRLD in Dallas.

“I went to Jackson, Mississippi, to work as the news director for the Mississippi Radio News Network,” Molino said. “That’s where I started dipping my toes into farm broadcasting. In 1980, I moved to Baton Rouge to be the operations manager of the Louisiana Network.”

In 1987, Molino transitioned to farm broadcaster and never looked back.

“I love meeting farmers and agricultural professionals,” Molino said. “These people would give you the shirt off their back, and they are the salt of the earth. I’ve made many good friends in this industry over the past 40 years.”

The Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation recognized him for his impressive career in farm broadcasting, and this award was particularly special to him.

“Reginal Wallace first got me started in farm broadcasting in Louisiana,” Molino said. “When he retired, Michael Danna took his place. Both were my dear friends and to receive an award named after them is so special to me.”
