Chosen to receive an NAFB Foundation Grant, WKDZ (Cadiz, KY) hired Caitlin Oakes to serve as the intern for the WKDZ Morning Ag Report and the Ag Edge website this summer. Caitlin is studying agribusiness at Murray State University, with a minor in mass communications.

The CME Group hosted eight NAFB broadcasters and NAFB News Service Editor, Micheal Clements, for a half-day intensive training, June 29, to better equip members with a deeper knowledge of how agricultural markets work. The training session provided farm broadcasters knowledge of agricultural futures and options markets mechanics, ability to identify and interpret market movements and trends, expertise to engage producers, marketing specialists and others on ag market movements.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the NAFB Foundation through the Booster Club, NAFB Foundation Auction and other fundraising opportunities. I have the honor of serving as NAFB Foundation President and wish I could personally thank you for your contributions. While serving on the Foundation board, I’ve had the opportunity to meet several of the scholarship winners and interns. The passion and love they have for agriculture and our industry makes me excited about the future of farm broadcasting.

In early 2016, corporate restructuring in RFD TV brought Janet Adkison back to Tennessee, but she kept one foot in the nation’s capital, traveling back for various events. This summer the change is official. Janet is now full-time on the anchor desk welcoming audiences each morning during the Market Day Report and nightly during the Rural Evening News.

​AgNet West marked its fifth anniversary of service provided to the California agriculture industry on July 12, 2017. The network started with 12 stations and has grown to include 33 radio stations throughout the state, reporting ag news from Shasta all the way down to Imperial County. Gary Cooper is the principal founder and President of AgNet Media, the parent organization of AgNet West.
