WYXY Welcomes Two NAFB Foundation Internship Grant Recipients

Gale Cunningham (WYXY, CHAMPAIGN, IL) mentored two NAFB Foundation 2017 student intern grant recipients, Kade Hill, left, and Bethany Boose. Kade Hill, WYXY (Champaign, IL) intern said, “It goes without saying that my decision to pursue a career in agriculture is a first for my family. Kade is from Paxton, IL, and he graduated from Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School in 2015, and is a sophomore at the University of Illinois majoring in agriculture education.

Mike Hergert Is Retiring

The first person to sit behind the Red River Farm Network (RRFN) microphone is retiring. Mike Hergert (RRFN, Grand Forks, ND) is an NAFB Hall of Fame (2015) broadcaster who co-founded the company and has been its guiding force over the past 21-plus years.

She began her radio career as a Sunday news broadcaster at KSOM/KS957 (Atlantic, IA).

NAFB Foundation Grant Recipient Hannah Borg

This summer, KRVN/Rural Radio Network (Lexington, NE) hosted Hannah Borg as farm broadcasting intern with the assistance of an NAFB Foundation Grant. Hannah is a junior at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln studying agricultural communications.

From Washington To RFD TV Anchor Desk In Nashville

Janet_RFDIn early 2016, corporate restructuring in RFD TV brought Janet Adkison back to Tennessee, but she kept one foot in the nation’s capital, traveling back for various events. This summer the change is official. Janet is now full-time on the anchor desk welcoming audiences each morning during the Market Day Report and nightly during the Rural Evening News.
